2019 Spring Competition Style BaozhongFloating Leaves Tea
Baozhong as we know it was born of a friendly competition between tea farmers. The winner was to create a oolong with a floral fragrance that had not been scented with any non-tea additives. The resulting Baozhong has become one of Taiwan's five most famous oolong teas. It is a floral and juicy open leaf style oolong with a brisk punch.
Our longtime friend and delightful tea farmer Mr Chen has been making this tea for us for more than a decade now. He grows the tea in his home in Pinglin, and does all the processing in house, start to finish. We love his personality and how it reflects in his easygoing tea!
Wet leaves have a sweet, floral scent. Broth is light bodied, very smooth and balanced. Later infusions develop a bit of juiciness.
Aftertaste is delicate and very refreshing, leaving behind a soft floral bouquet. We're both very please with how floral feeling maintains through the whole session. Overall, this is a very balanced tea with an approachable sweet, floral character. Would make a really nice daily tea for enjoyable, easygoing sessions. Refreshing & cooling!
