Taiwan Ruby 18 BlackFloating Leaves Tea
Ruby 18 is a modern Taiwanese invention, also known as Sun Moon Lake black tea. This cultivar is a cross between indigenous Taiwanese tea bushes and Assam varietal bushes. It was bred by a member of the Taiwan Tea reform institute back in 1999.
The farmer who produced this tea does detailed work. The leaves are beautiful, long and have a nice sheen. The broth is refined and medium bodied. The flavor has notes of caramel and roasted sweet potato. And it has the unique minty note that seems to be characteristic of Ruby 18 teas.
