Baozhong is a brightly fragrant, open leaf oolong tea. The leaves are long, spindly and deep forest green. It's the greenest of oolong teas produced in Taiwan, beloved for it's floral fragrance. I always feel that good Baozhong has a note like fresh snappy beans from the garden.
This tea won an honorable mention at the Pinglin tea competition this year. It posseses a clear, unified floral scent and smooth body with a jade colored broth which are hallmarks of competition winning tea.
Dry leaves give off a potent sweet aroma as they are warmed in a hot porcelain brewing cup. Broth strikes immediately with an intense aroma of flowers, a bit of citrus, and a hint of marzipan that last long into the aftertaste. In the mouth it is youthful and vigorous, the creamy broth quickly filling the mouth and leaving behind a strong lingering sweetness.
Very refreshing, fragrant tea with bodacious aroma. Unlike the more delicate florals of high mountain oolong, this tea cuts through with an intense and shimmering scent that is full and direct. If you have ever been into Jasmine tea and look for oolong with a floral scent, you should consider this tea.
