2012 Purple Leaf

Shiuwen purchased this Purple Leaf Puer during a trip to Yunnan in April, 2015. It was pressed in a small tea factory in Mojiang, Yunnan.

The rinsed leaves smell sweet, slightly smoky and musky. Its broth is sweet and feels solid in the mouth. The bouquet is not focused on high notes. Instead, its texture, flavor and aftertaste stay at the mid range. This is a tea for lovers of unique teas.

Note that this is not from the Purple Tip hybrid varietal, but a result of a purple leaf mutation of the tea bush. This is the only plantation grown puer that we carry. It is good to drink now, and will benefit from further aging.
