Dong Ding Little Iron Bush

This is another tea from the movie star Dong Ding farmers Mr and Mrs Su. We saw this big bag of tea in the corner of their tea tasting space, and took special notice of it because it had the character 鉄 "Tie" written on the bag. This is the same "Tie" from Tie Guan Yin, so we asked to taste the tea and it was really interesting! It's made of the "Little Tie Guan Yin" cultivar, and feels like both Dong Ding and Tie Guan Yin in one tea. That's why we called it Little Iron Bush. The tea was grown on Mr Su's cousin's farm, maybe a five minute drive from Mr and Mrs Su's house.

The wet leaves have a fruity roasted scent that feels like you're sitting down for  a pot of Dong Ding. The broth is still opening up, but it has a mix of Dong Ding juiciness (not as juicy and thick as the Traditional A) and Tie Guan Yin essence shows up especially in the later infusions. The profile is very similar to the Traditional A, as it is made by the same people and grown in the same place.

The scent in the bottom of the cup is big and sweet, indicating to me it has a lot of potential. I will update tasting notes as the tea continues to open up, but it is already 'good drinking' right now.
