NEW TEA ALERT!
We've had the same house black for years, a Yunnan grown broken leaf black tea with a good amount of tips that takes milk well. However, we've had trouble getting a hold of that tea because of shipping issues, so we went ahead and looked around for a replacement.
The NEW HOUSE BLACK is from Sri Lanka, is a full bodied broken leaf Assamica black tea, and takes milk well. The biggest difference is the notes are deeper. If you would have called the previous House Black fruity, this one would be plummy/malty. It can be pushed to brew a stronger cup of tea without as much astringency.
This one makes a great English style strong cuppa, works with milk, works with sugar, can be made into a classic American iced tea, and makes a good, authentic Taiwan Bubble Tea.
So be warned : If you are a House Black drinker this is NOT THE SAME TEA. But it is similar, and we actually like it more!
