Broth has the bright and clear golden-yellow color of classically oxidized oolong tea. Surface has a slight oily sheen and when you jiggle the cup there is a bit of a gel like texture that clings to the sides, which indicates this tea is full of all the good stuff that we like!

Aroma leans elegant rather than effusive : the notes of magnolia shift in and out mixing together with a stone fruit mid tone, reminiscent of peach. Sugarcane fills in the base. But these notes really only begin to paint the picture, the tea is constantly shifting and churning throughout many infusions which makes flavor notes hard to pin down. The overall vibe is poetic, the kind of beauty you might describe as moonlight reflecting in a pool of water. Dynamic, but soft. Gently refreshing but never heavy handed.

Soft like a cloud in the mouth, the broth has a pleasant dewy sweetness. Travels with incredible ease to the throat where it brings on a delicate cooling sensation. Aroma lingers long in the mouth and throat, and returning sweetness is full and pervasive.

I love this farmer’s work because, apart from the incredible elegance and good taste with which the entire tea is crafted, his tea tastes like the earth that it comes from. In other words, you can taste the Alishan. The thing that originally made Alishan such a cool place to grow tea, that’s present in his Secret Garden.
