"333" Shan Lin Xi High Mountain Oolong 2024 Winter
I have had a hard time writing this tea, or else we would have released it sooner! Mostly it's been difficult because I like it so much but it's beauty lies in the less tangible traits of good tea : balance, openness, penetrative energy, the at ease quality with which it settles in the body. It has an incredible sense of purity. The notes however... well, it just tastes like really good high mountain oolong!
The tea is from a very special garden in the San Ceng Ping area of Shan Lin Xi, the 3rd highest growing area in that region at about 1800 meters above sea-level. The farmer has not only skill but wisdom and serious integrity to produce a tea like this. It doesn't vie for attention, but rather just goes about doing what good tea should do. I.e. it has a broth that is open and expansive, has an aroma that easily dances into the upper sinus behind the eyes and into the top of the head, and has a body feel that travels into the shoulders, chest and belly with a pleasant buzz. It is a full body tea. It is a capable tea.
The tea overall has a sense of easy power about it. Like it doesn't need any effort, and it's everywhere. We are very grateful for the opportunity to work this Shan Lin Xi oolong, and hope it will find a place in some of your hearts.
