Milk & Honey Oolong
This tea is grown at decently high elevations between Dong Ding and Shan Lin Xi from the Jin Xuan (milk oolong) cultivar, and then very lightly roasted in our shop to enhance the clarity and bring out the personality of the tea. We spent months exploring the proper techniques to retain the youthful flavor of this tea while at the same time stabilizing it for the long haul - as we learned from our teacher is the responsibility of the tea roaster.
**Note : This is not a bug bitten tea like Oriental Beauty or Gui Fei. The honey note is on the floral side of honey, not like those juicy bug bitten teas.**
With a truly milky scent, when I drink it I can really see how this cultivar got its reputation. Completely natural, no flavorings. Masterfully crafted and lovingly cultivated by the farmer. The broth is clean, clear and viscous, softly coating the mouth and throat. Feels substantial and uplifting in the body, very gently warm when its cold out but also cooling on a hot summer day.
A delightful and easygoing oolong with sweet milk candy aroma.
We are still roasting in our micro-batches, so there will be slight variation from batch to batch. But we have a decently sized quantity of the winter harvest of this tea, so we can use essentially the same technique each time which will help with consistency.
